If you are considering selling your photos or illustrations on Picster, the money side of things is simple enough to explain in a few paragraphs. Here is exactly how it works.
How credits and pricing work
Picster runs on a credit system. One credit costs €0.10, and the Euro is the platform's base currency. If a buyer is in Australia or another country, their local price is calculated from that Euro rate using the live exchange rate at the time of purchase — so what they pay in AUD or USD is always a direct conversion, not a separate fixed price we set manually.
Buyers top up their credit balance in one-off amounts. There is no subscription, no monthly commitment, and no credits that expire after a billing cycle. They buy what they need when they need it.
The 50/50 split in practice
When a buyer spends credits on your work, you receive exactly 50% of the sale value. That is the same rate for every artist, every file, every transaction — there is no tiered system where your commission improves only after you hit a sales threshold, and no featured sellers who quietly get better terms.
So if a buyer purchases a licence priced at 10 credits (€1.00 at base rate), €0.50 worth of credit value lands in your Picster wallet. It accumulates there as sales come in, and you can see the running balance at any time in your account.
Requesting a payout
When you are ready to withdraw, you request a payout directly from the wallet inside the app. Payouts are sent by email transfer — you receive a payment to the email address on your account. There is no third-party dashboard to log into separately and no need to connect a payment processor yourself.
A few practical things worth knowing before you request:
- Make sure the email address on your Picster account is current and can receive payment notifications.
- Payouts are processed by the team manually, so they do not happen instantly — allow a reasonable window, particularly around weekends.
- There is a minimum balance required before a payout can be requested, which exists to keep the transfer overhead sensible for small amounts.
One other thing: the featured queue
Getting featured on Picster is not a paid placement. The featured queue is curated by a small human team reviewing submissions. This does not affect how commissions are calculated — a featured image earns the same 50% as everything else — but it does affect visibility, so it is worth knowing that featuring is editorial, not transactional.
That is genuinely the whole picture. No hidden processing fees taken from your 50%, no currency conversion markup beyond the live rate, and no subscription tier you need to reach before the better commission kicks in. If something changes, we will say so plainly.
