Wax Drip Choir, Roadside Pylon, Subotica

I found this pylon on a two-lane outside Subotica just before the light dropped — seven or eight votives had been burning long enough to fuse into a single mass against the concrete base, the wax running down in ridges like organ pipes. Someone had pressed a small laminated photograph into the soft wax while it was still warm; it had sunk in at one corner and would never come out. I shot from low, almost ground level, so the pylon rises out of frame and the wax colony fills the foreground.
