Speleothem Veil, Sump Throat

This is the narrowest section of the sump, where the passage pinches and the ceiling drops to within an arm's reach of the floor. A single light source placed behind the translucent aragonite needles turns them into a false dawn — the only one this corridor has ever known. I held position in the current for longer than was comfortable to let the sediment settle back into its permanent quiet.
