Nooth's Apparatus, Carbonation Residue

I found this one at the back of a university surplus sale, still faintly clouded with whatever gas had last moved through it — that interior fog is the whole point. The three stacked glass globes of a Nooth's apparatus have a vertebral quality I couldn't stop thinking about, something between anatomy and alchemy. Platinum-palladium on salted paper lets the residue inside read as warmth rather than neglect.
