Lusterware Pitcher, Collapsed Afternoon

Found this pitcher in a lot from a shuttered Midlands drapery — the iridescent glaze catches the overhead light from a single north-facing skylight and pulls it apart into purples and greens that have no business existing on something this plain. I set it against a pressed-tin panel I pulled from a Louisville dry-goods store, the stamped quatrefoils slightly buckled, so the reflections from the glaze move across the metal like something breathing. Large-format film, no correction filter, because I wanted that neither-here-nor-there indoor colour to stay exactly as indecisive as it was.
