Three plastic soldiers mid-march across a scorched terrain of cracked black acrylic and cigarette ash. I lit them from a single bare tungsten bulb positioned low and hard to one side — the shadows stretch twice their height, and that's the whole point. Small enough to hold in your palm, heavy enough to feel like a war.
