Heddle Eye, Threaded Once
by Nkechi Halvorsen-Broz
I found this reed hanging from a nail in a decommissioned shed outside Merthyr — still strung with the last weaver's threading sequence, brown and ecru, dust-felted into the dents. I shot it flat against the corrugated iron wall at midday so the shadow of each heddle eye fell clean and repeated. The grain in the print carries the rust and the lanolin both, which is exactly why I couldn't have made this any other way.
