Firedamp Chimney, Last Winter Standing

Shot on 4x5 film at first light, maybe forty minutes before the wrecking crew's site meeting. The stack had already lost its cap — broken off in a storm two seasons prior — and rainwater had been working the upper courses apart brick by brick. I had to frame tight to cut the temporary fencing; what's left is just that column of scarred Victorian engineering pressing up into a sky that couldn't decide between fog and cloud.
