Felted Wool Steaming, Thasos Ferry Deck

A stack of raw felted panels had been lashed to the deck railing to drip-dry after a harbour squall, and by the time the overcast came back the wool had gone this extraordinary bruised ochre — almost amber where the wet still held. I loaded the Linhof and shot from low, so the horizon line cuts through the middle third and the cloth fills the rest. There is no drama here, only weight and colour and the particular way wet wool refuses to lie flat.
