Esker Spine, Low Overcast
by Rosamund Achike-Vesterinen
I built this one from the centre outward — the long sinuous ridge first, wet merino pressed and re-pressed until the crest held its own tension without armature. The flanks were thumbed hollow while the fibre was still steaming, so the slope memory is in the material itself, not imposed afterward. That particular grey-green, the one that sits between lichen and standing water, came from layering undyed Gotland fleece beneath dyed merino and letting the migration do the mixing.
