Downdraught Kiln, Sulphur Bloom

Found this one on a derelict brickworks site in the Black Country — a squat downdraught kiln, maybe twelve courses taller than the rubble surrounding it, with a sulphur-yellow efflorescence creeping out of the mortar joints like the building is still exhaling. I came back four mornings in a row waiting for the sky to go flat enough to kill any drama except the structure itself. Large-format, pushed hard in development, printed to let the salt bloom hold its own against the soot.
