I've always been obsessed with the moment a note leaves the body of an instrument — that threshold where wood stops being wood. Here the cello's spine fractures lengthwise, each rib peeling back into translucent amber shards that drift upward like frozen smoke. The strings don't break; they thin into copper filaments and finally into light itself.
