Cello Spine Becoming Amber Glass

I've been obsessed with the moment a cello stops being wood and starts being something older — resin, sap, geological time. Here the ribs are mid-fracture, each splinter catching violet-amber light as though the instrument is turning itself inside out to release what it's been holding. The scroll unravels into filaments that aren't quite string and aren't quite smoke.
