Bleed Valve, Sinter Apron, Late Afternoon
by Dagný Okonkwo
A single bleed valve has been weeping mineral-rich water long enough to build its own geology — a shallow apron of silica sinter fanning out across the ground, banded in chalky white at the edges and deepening to a wet ochre where the flow is still active. I framed it tight so the pipe fills the upper third and the apron claims everything below, the rust-pitted metal and the self-made mineral shelf locked into the same square. Shot on large-format film mid-afternoon when the low sun rakes across the texture without blowing out the pale sinter.
