Birch Bark Telegram, Unanswered

I pressed a strip of birch bark against a page torn from a 1973 Finnish telephone directory and let the ink bleed through overnight. What came out felt like a message the forest had been trying to send for fifty years. Scanned flat, then layered with a fragment of indigo-dyed gauze I found at the Hietalahti flea market.
