The baseline is where the paint always goes first — ground down to raw aggregate by years of pivot steps, the original burgundy surviving only in a narrow strip where no one ever stands. I worked the linen with oil stick in horizontal passes, trying to hold that specific flatness, the way a neglected court reads as pure geology when no one is on it.
