Ammonia Valve Manifold, Trondheim Coldhouse

I found this manifold behind a false wall of cork board that someone had partially stripped away during a failed conversion in the nineties. The pipework is original, maybe 1931, and the frost-blush on the copper flanges had built up over decades into something almost geological. I set up the Linhof on a low stand and waited for the overcast to flatten out completely — that's the only light that does justice to a surface like this, where the interest is entirely in texture and not in drama.
